According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, there are more than 6,500 medical device companies nationwide, and the state of Florida holds one of the highest concentrations of those companies. In fact, Florida has the nation’s second-largest medical device manufacturing industry, with more than just companies.
Among the products produced in Palm Beach County: surgical saws and drills, biologically driven dental implants, monitoring and imaging systems, lasers for patient marking and alignment, refractive surgery instruments, and vision-restoration therapy devices.
A number of county companies focus specifically on the spine, producing spinal and orthopedic-fusion devices, cervical collars and back braces, and spine-joint instability measurement devices.
