Dear Palm Beach County neighbors,
More than 100 Scripps Research scientists are working to decipher the dangerous new coronavirus responsible for outbreaks of respiratory illness across the globe. On both U.S. coasts, teams of chemists and biologists are focused on developing antiviral therapies and vaccine prototypes which are optimized for both safety and effectiveness.
Due to the pandemic emergency, our next Front Row Lecture will be held via webinar rather than on our campus. It will be broadcast via Zoom on April 22 at 4:00 p.m. ET and feature virologist and internationally recognized coronavirus expert Michael Farzan, PhD. Professor Farzan is the co-chair of the Scripps Research Department of Immunology and Microbiology. His talk, “Addressing the Coronavirus Challenge,” will address the progress made so far on biologic medicines, antiviral drugs and vaccine approaches to protecting people from COVID-19, the illness caused by SARS-CoV-2.
