Jupiter Medical Center has opened its third off-site urgent care center in four years — this one in Palm Beach Gardens.
“We are committed to ensuring our community has access to immediate care of the highest quality. By adding rehabilitation services at the same location, we are making physical therapy as convenient and accessible as urgent care is today,” said Jupiter Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Couris.
The Palm Beach Gardens center opened Thursday at 3250 PGA Boulevard, across from The Gardens Mall.
JMC, a non-profit hospital based at 1210 S. Old Dixie Highway, opened a medical clinic in April 2013 in a former Blockbuster store in Abacoa Plaza, on the northwest corner of Donald Ross Road and Military Trail.
A year later, JMC opened an urgent care center on the north side of Indiantown Road, just east of Center Street. The free-standing building was formerly operated by another medical clinic, Jupiter Urgent Care.
Up to 27 percent of all ER visits could take place at an urgent care or retail clinic. Patients going to urgent care centers rather than emergency rooms could save patients and insurance providers $4.4 billion a year, according to a study by the Urgent Care Association of America.
All three JMC centers are open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Sundays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Services offered include on-site laboratory testing, x-rays, flu shots, lab services, travel medicine, pre-employment testing or preoperative clearance.
JMC’s next urgent care center could be in Wellington, Couris has told The Palm Beach Post.
